Wireless Equipment Installation Instruction

Thank you for choosing Maxiis for your wireless internet. Below are some simple instructions for the placement and installation of your internet wireless equipment. By following these instructions, you can avoid damage to the radio unit and ensure fast and dependable service.

Step 1: Before installation, it is necessary to determine the radio unit's location. Proper placement is critical to ensure optimum radio range and performance. The radio needs to be installed at least ten feet off the ground and have a clear line of site with the access point. Obstructions such as trees or buildings will reduce or cause loss of service. Generally, the higher the unit is placed, the better your reception will be.

Step 2: After a location for the radio unit has been determined, the method of securing the radio must be decided. Placement on a TV tower or antenna mast is always a good choice. Maxiis can also furnish an adjustable bracket that can be used to mount the radio on the roof or side of the structure.

An arrow has been drawn on the back of the radio to show which side of the unit should be placed in the up position. It is important to ensure that this is done correctly. Reduced signal will result if the radio is mounted incorrectly. The internet cable should always feed from the bottom of the white plastic cover on the back panel of the unit.

Point the radio unit towards the access point and secure the bracket on the back panel to your mount point. Normally, the radio unit does not require and tilt and should remain perpendicular to the ground.

Step 3: Now that the radio has been mounted into position, it's time to power the unit up. Only use the power adapter that came with your radio unit and POE. If an incorrect power adapter is used it may damage the unit and void your warranty. Plug the cable from the radio unit into the POE socket marked with a black marker and labeled CPE. Connect the supplied power adapter to the POE and plug it into a standard 110 outlet.

Step 4: If the previous steps have been followed correctly, your radio unit should now be powered and the power, radio and signal lights on the back display should be lit. If no lights are illuminated on the display, check to make sure that power and cables are connected properly to the POE.Status Light Definitions

Step 5: With the radio unit powered, now is the time to make any alignment adjustments necessary to ensure optimum signal strength. At this point the radio light should be lit and at least some of the amber signal lights illuminated. If the radio light is not on, check to make sure that the radio unit is pointed at the access point and that the signal path is unobstructed. By making small adjustment to the right or left, align the radio to light up as many signal lights as possible.

Step 6: Now that the radio unit is properly aligned, it is now time to connect your computer  or router to the POE. The supplied cable should run from the POE socket labeled PC int the Ethernet port on the the back of the computer or the Internet port on the back of the router. With this completed, the LAN light on the back of the radio unit should now also be lit. Internet access should now be available.
